Even though Wonder Woman has wrapped principal photography (though there may be reshoots later on), Gal Gadot barely has any time to rest. Justice League: Part Oneis in the middle of shooting, and Wonder Woman is one of that blockbuster’s main heroes. So the actress will be staying in Europe to act alongside her fellow heroic DC actors in their first official team-up, which comes five months after Wonder Woman. Gadot is also expected to reprise Diana for 2019’s Justice League: Part Two.
While Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice introduced Diana in the present day DC Extended Universe, Wonder Woman will take audiences back 100 ago to when she ventured out into the outside world during World War I. After spending thousands of years on Themyscira, she’ll learn what society is like outside of those shores. While traveling across Europe during the Great War, she’ll meet Steve Trevor (played by Chris Pine), a United States military officer. The movie’s cast also includes Connie Nielsen as Queen Hippolyta (a.k.a. Diana’s mother), Robin Wright as Antiope and Lisa Loven Kongsli as Menalippe, as well as undisclosed roles for Danny Huston, David Thewlis, Ewen Bremner, Saïd Taghmaoui and Elena Anaya. As stated before, there will be some present day scenes in Wonder Woman, but for the most part, moviegoers should expect a period piece showing Diana’s first adventure among humanity and what led her to be disillusioned with them before the events of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
Wonder Woman lands in theaters on June 2, 2017.
