Man reveals horrific injuries after he was blinded in brutal 'homophobic attack' with boyfriend

Dain Luka and James Loxton were walking home when two men allegedly jumped on them and started kicking them in the face

A man has revealed his horrific injuries after he was left blinded in an alleged homophobic attack.
Dain Luka was walking home with his boyfriend James Loxton when he claims two men began shouting abuse before jumping on them and kicking them in the face .
He was blinded in his left eye and suffered multiple fractures to his face after the alleged assault in Brighton, East Sussex, earlier this month.
Partner James, who claims his phone was stolen in the apparent attack on May 1, also sustained cuts and bruises.
The pair took to Facebook to share images of their shocking injuries to highlight homophobia and the post has now been shared more than 30,000 times.
Dain claimed on his profile: "Two guys decided to shout homophobic comments as we were walking home doing the sensible thing and ignoring it they decided to jump us and kick us in the face.
"I don't know who did but thank you to the people trying to get the guys off us and calling the police.
"My eyes are full of blood and I've fractured all the bones in my face."
He alleged: "Felt pretty lucky going through life not experiencing homophobia and for it to happen in Brighton just goes to show that people still can't be accepting of others the guys who did this have been caught and I really hope karma gets them.
"No one should ever experience being discriminated against no matter who they are."
James wrote a post on his Facebook page the following day after he claimed their alleged attackers were arrested and charged.
He claimed: "Just when I thought we lived in the 21st century where homophobic attacks are very rare, especially in somewhere like Brighton.
"On Sunday night me and Dain were viciously attacked just because we are gay when we were on our way home from a night out.
"We were both pushed to the floor, kicked in the face and body several times and unfortunately Dain got it worse and got kicked in his eyes too.
"There were several people around at the time that called the police straight away and luckily they responded within minutes saving us from any further attacks.
"I am grateful for the people that called the police and helped us and also grateful for Brighton Police for getting the investigation moving as fast as they could."
"We are both heading in the right direction and on the mend but couldn't of (sic) stayed as positive as we have without all the love and support we have received from everyone of our friends and families."
He added: "No one should be discriminated for anything, we are all the same and all equal and no one should have to experience what we went through on Sunday."
Dain has since been told his vision is expected to return within the next few weeks.
An 18-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident, police say.
A spokesman for Sussex Police said: "An 18-year-old man from Crawley has been arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, causing grievous bodily harm with intent and obstructing or resisting a police officer in the execution of their duty.
"He has been bailed until 5 July pending further enquiries.
"The arrest was made following a report of an incident outside the Queens Hotel in Kings Road, Brighton, shortly after 5am on Monday, May 2."
